It Happened Again

I did it again lovelies. I let another Wednesday pass without posting my randoms...shame on me! In all fairness I was feeling pretty unwell yesterday, still am actually, and I just wasn't up for blogging. I couldn't let another day pass though so I am here with my randoms for the week...I hope you enjoy 'em.
  • I don't like feeling sick...yuck! The fever, cough, sniffles, the whole nasty shebang.
  • I watched the TLC biopic on Monday and I think the girls (Keke Palmer, Lil Mama, Drew Sidora) did a really good job. I'm always intrigued by the stories behind the musician (s) we see performing on stage full of energy and charisma. It reminded me of another amazing biopic that I loved so deeply, the 1992 mini-series The Jacksons: An American Dream. Gosh, that was a great one!
  • My quote of the week: "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." - The Dalai Lama. Compassion is the understanding or empathy for others. I 100% agree that we need compassion in our lives to be happy. I mean, if we don't have compassion for one another and the ability to forgive when we wrong each other, then what makes us different from animals? Like kindness, compassion begets compassion. The more compassionate you are to others the more others will be compassionate towards you. I've made it my personal mission to become more compassionate, which isn't always easy but I believe well worth it.
  • I've been attending a weekly screenwriting meetup on Saturdays and I LOVE it!!! Being around people that are as obsessed with storytelling as I am, learning from them and sharing our personal work with each other for constructive feedback, it's the best!
  • I am terrible with checking my voice mail. Honestly, you might leave me a voice mail today and I probably won't check it 'til at least a week later! Smh.
  • I dream of food...I mean I seriously dream of being in countries and continents I haven't visited, sitting down in swanky restaurants, eating their delicious food. Is that gluttonous or what? Smh.
  • I might be the only gal on the planet without an Instagram account. Don't shoot! I'm just not that into photos and selfies and the sort...maybe one day.
That's it for now folks. I've promised to never miss another Wednesday posting before and we see what happened this week...eek! So, I'll just say I'll HOPEFULLY be back next Wednesday with another set of randoms just for you. Bye lovelies and have a great weekend!:)

  1. I loved this post!
    - I plan to watch the TLC biopic soon. Love their music so would be great to see a bit of their lives played out on screen.
    - that quote is so true. Compassion is one of the easiest things we can practice to be/make others happy. So why do we find it so difficult to do?
    - I've always been interested in screen-writing! You'll have to share some of the tips you're learning on here :p
    - I dream of food too. That's just a given. lol
    - I have an instagram account but hardly use it. I don't even think it's set to public viewing. A lot of people use and ABUSE it if you ask me! lol

Have a great weekend too :)

    1. Thank you Vegan!:)

The TLC movie was really interesting so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I think we find compassion so hard to practice because our egos tell us that somehow it makes us look "weak" or "foolish" to others especially when some people are still unkind towards us after we show them compassion. The way I've found to really be compassionate is to 1. not expect a direct return back from the person or people (because many times that won't happen), and 2. know that I'm practicing a necessary virtue that will hopefully inspire most of the people I encounter to be more compassionate towards others, and create positive karma for myself and those I love in my own life.

Yay for our mutual interest in screenwriting! I will definitely do a post soon on everything I've learned so far.

It makes sense that you dream of food Vegan considering you have a food blog! lol

Oh, I agree...some photos I've seen on Instagram are just a tad bit too risque and unnecessarily revealing for me.

    2. I finally wastched the TLC movie and have to agree that the acting was great. I couldn't help thinking that Tatyana Ali could also have made a great Chilli (the person and not the meal..hehe :p)

    3. I didn't think of it before but now that you say it Tatyana would have made a good Chilli! And I can always go for a bowl of Chilli...or anything else, as long as it's FOOD lol

p.s. my sister Ify and I watched the Best Man Holiday movie (which we LOVED, tears and everything) and she said that Tatyana Ali would have been good in the role of Candy - the ex-stripper - too.

    4. Ohh I've heard of that movie. Another on my list of things to watch..

    5. You've got to watch it girl, it's so good! Funny, emotional, and truly gripping from the beginning to the end of the movie.
