Not-quite-Wednesday Randoms

Hey lovely people! How is everyone's week going? I honestly hope it has been a happy and productive week so far for each and every one of you. Now judging by the title, it's obvious I missed my randoms post yesterday...SHAME ON ME! I apologize for not keeping to our Wednesday schedule and have some juicy randoms just for you below.
  • My favorite soap opera has to be General Hospital. It used to be Guiding Light/All My Children but they took them off the air! *sad face*. Friends have called me an "old head" before because apparently those are the soaps "grandmas" like and young peeps watch the Young and the Restless or Passions or whatever else. Well, I don't like those other ones so go ahead and call me grandma!
  • I'm sorry to say this one, especially to the millions and millions of people that do this, but I don't like "baby talk". "Oh! Look at the purrrrrrrrty little baby!" "Look at the little bububububububububaby!" "Awww, jujujubebebe baby!" "Yes bubay...yes bubay...yes bubay!" I can't y'all. Every time I hear a parent or anyone talking to a baby like this I just want to burst out laughing. It  sounds like silly alien language to me. I can't imagine that my parents spoke that way to me as a baby but if they did, I know I must have been cracking up laughing!
  • I don't like being told to do things without the necessary pleasantries, "please" and "thank you". As a matter of fact, just yesterday I was working on a team project with several people I did not know and at one point one of the ladies I was working with told me to hold some cups for her because her hands were tied. Well, what she actually said was, "Hold this." Now if you know me, you would know that I would have had no problem doing this for her had she included a simple "please" beforehand. Instead, it felt as if she was ordering me rather than asking. Now being the person I am, I still did it anyways but I must say I was slightly irritated. It may seem like I'm making too big of a deal about this, but I remember growing up in a Nigerian household and attending Nigerian schools where the importance and requirement of formalities were ingrained in us. I am such a stickler for those words and I'm probably guilty of overusing them even.
  • I think I've already said it before but just to reiterate, Marie Forleo's channel on YouTube is fantastic! She is a personal development & business marketing coach and she is sooo good. I have been watching her videos for the past few months and I've taken many, many nuggets of wisdom/business strategy from her. She posts videos every Tuesday so please check them out when you can. I promise you'll leave better off.
  • I'm ready to see The Butler!!! It looks like it will be a great tearjerker film and I'm excited to see it...not to mention that my Naija brother, David Oyelowo, is in it representing us o!
  • Jay-Z's "Picasso Baby" song and video have definitely been receiving mixed reviews. Some people see it as art and others feel like it is a throwaway song. Me personally, I like it! What do you feel about the song + video?
  • My new mini-obsession is the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich from Starbucks. It is so good! I even put it over the breakfast sandwiches at McDonald's that I used to love.
  • I prefer thicker eyebrows to thinner ones. Very random, I know, but I really think some nicely shaped, cleaned up thick eyebrows look very attractive and frame the face well.
There you have it folks, I hope you enjoyed them. Leave a comment down below and tell me what you think, I want to know! Toodles:)

  1. I HATE baby talk also. I don't do it at all, even when my niece and nephew were babies, I talked to them regularly.

Please and thank you go a longggg way to me. I try to use them all the time. When people don't say it to me, I take very great offense to it. Maybe I'm too sensitive.

All I saw was sausage, egg, and cheese and I thought about McDonald's. I guess I should try Starbucks.

    1. Finally! Someone who isn't into baby talk like me lol

When it comes to formalities, I must be too sensitive too because it just irks me when they're not used.

Yes! Try the sandwich and let me know what you think...I absolutely love it.
