Dichotomy

An eternal work in progress,
Diamond in the bloody ruff.
Moments that inspire, yet I already tire
My faith is strong while at the same time weak.

I dream of destiny achieved,
afraid to put my hand out and reach.
All good things come to an end,
All attained shall one day slip away.

Still visions of greatness appear,
too strong and vivid not to let near.
One life to lead I hold indeed,
One moment in time left to succeed.

So I shall fight the ultimate duel,
the battle with self to live in vain
And when the end draws close,
at least I'll know the world I entertained.
